Search Function Updates, New “Community” Section

Search Function Optimization

This week, I spent some time researching and implementing some “quality of life” updates for the search functions found in various parts of our website (such as on Questions page).

The previous version utilizes Javascript to fetch results from a pre-defined index. My new code utilizes PHP and Javascript in order to not only fetch search results based on each posts NAME but now, name and content within the post (such as specific words or phrases within the post), allowing users to search for the specifics.

Introducing the “Community”

Another feature implemented is our brand new “Community” section, which features the following sub-pages: News, Events, Study Hub.

Find important site-wide updates (such as this one) on the News page.

Find events such as drop-in sessions, campus events, and more on the Events page.

Find study materials such as study guides, study tips and advice, and more on the Study Hub page.
